Al-Nujoom Al-Khamsa Ahl Al-Kisa is one of Karbala’s newest hotels, opened in 2026. It is on Al-Alqami Street, just before Maytham Al-Tammar Street.
The nearest shrine is that of Abbas, about 850 metres away, around a twelve-minute walk; the shrine of Imam Husayn is about 1,000 metres away. The hotel has no shuttle and no taxis run on this route, so walking is the only way to the shrine.
Rooms come as doubles, triples, four-bed rooms and suites, so there is something for couples, families and groups. Meals are served as an open buffet, and besides the restaurant there are two café-restaurants, AMAR and NOOR.
The name can be misleading: “Al-Nujoom Al-Khamsa Ahl Al-Kisa” means “the five stars of the People of the Cloak”, a reference to the Five Pure Ones (the Prophet, Lady Fatima, Imam Ali, Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn, peace be upon them), not to a five-star rating. The hotel’s own English branding, “Five Stars Hotel”, adds to the confusion. Nebras’s advisers rate it four-star, and that is how we list it. Its new building and modern fittings are its strengths; its fairly long distance from the shrine of Imam Husayn and the lack of a shuttle are its main drawbacks. If being close to the shrine of Imam Husayn is your top priority, see other options among the hotels in Karbala.
