Kowthar Hotel (full name: Nabaa Al-Kawthar International) is one of the premium hotels of holy Najaf. It opened in 2021 on Imam Sadiq Street, right next to the Lady Fatima Zahra courtyard of the shrine.
A well-designed building, spacious rooms, plenty of lifts and wide corridors have made Kowthar a popular choice for pilgrims visiting the shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
The hotel has six floors and close to 600 beds. Twelve lifts move guests between floors, and every floor has separate washrooms for men and women. There are two restaurants and a coffee shop; one of the restaurants looks out over the holy shrine of Imam Ali.
The management and staff are Iranian, which makes communication easy for Persian-speaking pilgrims.
Kowthar stands about 50 metres south of the Lady Fatima Zahra courtyard, near Qasr Al-Diyafa Hotel. Apart from the courtyard entrances, the closest gate of the old shrine building is Bab Al-Qibla, about 300 metres from the hotel.
